HUMBLE BEGINNINGS AND THE MEANING OF FAMILY
In 1921, Giovanni Mellano embarked on a transformative journey from a quaint Italian town to the vibrant city of Los Angeles, California, USA. By 1925, he had established his own wholesale flower shop within the iconic Los Angeles Flower Market. The vision didn't stop there—a few years later, Giovanni met and married the love of his life, Maria. The couple purchased a home in Artesia, California, with 6.5 acres where they began growing their own flowers.
Fast forward nearly a century, and Mellano & Company stands as a testament to Giovanni's enduring ambition. Two generations later, we proudly cultivate close to 400 acres in the sunny hills of North San Diego County. Our influence extends beyond the flagship location in Los Angeles, with additional wholesale locations now in Orange County, Carlsbad, and Las Vegas, NV.
Rooted in family values, the business continues under the guidance of the third generation of Mellanos. Leading the charge is Giovanni's grandson, Mike Anthony Mellano, serving as our CEO, with brothers and cousins holding pivotal leadership roles throughout the company.
