As we celebrate 100 years of Mellano & Company’s legacy in the floral industry, April offers the perfect moment to reflect on the journey we’ve taken and the vibrant community we’ve nurtured over the decades. With spring in full bloom, Mellano & Company is at the heart of some of the most exciting floral events of the season! From our partnership with The Flower Fields, where we sponsor their interactive events and floral experiences, to supporting artistic showcases and community-driven initiatives, we are honored to contribute our flowers, foliage, and expertise to these exceptional celebrations.

The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch
Mellano & Company is honored to sponsor the lush flowers and foliage to partner events at the breathtaking Flower Fields. As the primary provider of florals, greens, and succulents, we ensure every corner of this iconic location bursts with color. Be sure to visit and experience the magic firsthand – all in celebration of 100 years of Mellano’s legacy in Southern California!
Flower Crown Workshop
Mellano & Company will provide fresh, locally grown spring flowers, fillers, and greens from their farm for this hands-on Flower Crown Workshop. Led by Kim Kudo of Kim’s Flower Network, Inc., participants will learn how to create their own stunning flower crowns and body flower art while mastering the basics of flower wrapping techniques.
Event Date: April 6th- April 26th at 9:00am-10:30am
Sunset Wine Tasting & Music
Guests will be welcomed with a complimentary bouquet from Mellano and Company, and you’ll find Mellano-grown ranunculus adorning each table throughout the event. This wine experience will feature premium wines and curated food bites, all paired with live performances by talented musical artists from across Southern California. Watch the sunset over 50 acres of ranunculus flowers in a breathtaking array of colors while enjoying a carefully selected wine list. From classic reds and rosés to dynamic whites, each wine will be hand-selected by expert sommeliers to showcase the best of California’s renowned wine-growing regions. This event promises an unforgettable evening of music, wine, and stunning floral landscapes.

Spring Succulent Workshop - SOLD OUT
Mellano & Company is excited to provide a selection of unique succulents, all grown just a few miles south of The Flower Fields, for this Spring Succulent Workshop. Join Ily at The Flower Fields in Carlsbad to design your own beautiful succulent arrangement in a moss-covered basket. Using Mellano-grown succulents like Grey Red, PVN, Gilva, Elegans, Roesa, Domingo, to name a few, along with lush foliage, participants will create a one-of-a-kind display perfect for the season. These locally grown succulents, each with its own distinct texture and color, capture the beauty and spirit of Southern California’s landscape.
Art Alive 2025 – San Diego Museum of Art
One of San Diego’s most anticipated cultural events, Art Alive brings together florists and artists to reimagine classic works of art through floral displays. Mellano & Company is thrilled to support this event with an array of premium blooms, including Ranunculus, Alstroemeria, and Aster Solidago fresh from our Oceanside farms.
Art Alive 2025 Rotunda Floral Installation by Natasha Lisitsa and Daniel Schultz
The floral art installation, Entwined, transforms the visitors' experience as they circulate through the Museum’s central rotunda. The modern kinetic sculpture extends from the ground floor to the ceiling of the rotunda forty feet overhead, rotating around a central axis in a meditative rhythm.
The structure consists of a three-dimensional chain, made of interlocking copper rings and an integrated vertical garden of greenery and flowers. It is inspired by architect Norman Foster’s work, currently featured at The San Diego Museum of Art in Foster + Partners: Architecture of Light, and characterized by a holistic approach that considers the environment, the biosphere, and the technosphere. Entwined envisions an optimistic engagement with the modern world, in which industrial and natural elements are integrated into a unified, living whole.
The installation color palette takes inspiration from the Spanish Renaissance architecture of the Museum, including Moorish decorative elements, with hues of maroon, marigold, ochre, rich greens, and pale pink.

Fleur de Villes – A Floral Fashion Spectacle
A Floral Fashion Spectacle
Join us this April as Fleur de Villes returns to South Coast Plaza with new show Fleurs de Villes Downton Abbey – a spectacular fresh floral celebration inspired by the famed period drama, created by Southern California’s talented floral artists. Here you will find all flowers and greens either from the Mellano farms or sourced by our wholesale location, Mellano Orange County.
From April 23 - 27, step into the world of Downton Abbey and be transported to early 20th-century England, where the aristocratic Crawley family and their devoted staff navigate a rapidly changing era
Giving Back: Donations to the Community
100 Smiles for 100 Years
As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the community, Mellano & Company is proud to make floral donations to local retirement homes, care facilities, police stations, etc., this April. In honor of our 100th anniversary, we’re also donating 100 bouquets to these organizations—one for each year we've had the privilege of being a part of this community.
Our mission is simple: to spread joy, appreciation, and a little bit of beauty wherever it’s needed most. We believe flowers have the power to brighten someone’s day, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to share this milestone with those who make our community stronger.
